This is the ruined Laugharne Castle, in Wales, it was destroyed during the civil war. The stones from the castle can be found all over town. I depicted the castle in this way because it shows the slight hill the rickety, once strong castle still stands. It is a 6x9 inche collage and mixed media on acid free paper.

Last week, I decided to have some fun with watercolor and collage. This is one of my results, it's small piece, only 5"x7". I call it Rocky Road.
I watched, Seven, the 1995 Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman film the other night. In the movie, the bad guy was killing people in the manner of the “seven deadly sins.” That made me think about Jamie Wyeth and his paintings of the “seven deadly sins,” using seagulls to depict the sins. Which led my thoughts to which of the sins an artist might commit.

I partially painted the background of 'White Birds' using a hairdryer to blow the paint around. Then I finished up by painting the rest using watercolor and a brush. The birds are in opaque white.
Last week, Honey and I, along with two of our grandchildren were driving to Roanoke, VA. Our son and his wife met us for dinner at a Chili’s restaurant in Staunton, VA. This is a quick sketch I did of my friend, Charley.
Summer evenings are so beautiful, Honey and I often enjoy taking the paddle boat out on the lake. When we do, Honey gets the boat, which is at the bottom of our hill, and paddles it over to the dock where I am waiting. Honey holds onto the dock to keep the boat steady while I board. Getting in isn’t easy because the paddle boat is much lower than the dock.

Honey and I drove to Philadelphia last weekend. The purpose of our trip was to see the Impressionist show at the Museum of Art. Our son and his wife were driving up from Virginia to meet us, so we made a weekend of it. I'm thrilled that our son has finally gotten an interest in viewing art.
