Title: Sir Richard in Alaska. This is my brother-in-law, Richard, fishing in Alaska. Richard's beard is what inspires me to paint him. It makes him look quite the character.

Honey isn’t the only color deprived one in our family. I think our son puts on some pretty weird things too, but I don’t care a bit. That’s his wife’s problem - WooHoo.

This is a beautiful spot in Bernardsville, NJ. I love and was inspired by the buildings and surroundings.
Honey can sometimes make the strangest clothing color choices, especially when we are going out. I imagine most wives (or husbands) have that particular problem. Some people just don’t have a color sense or realize the importance of color matching.

This little painting is from a photo I took in route to Napa Valley, CA. I loved the texture on the trees and the shadowy heights.
Color is the impression light makes on our eyes. When light rays hit a surface some are absorbed and others reflected. We see the absorbed light as black and color in the reflected light. When all the light rays are reflected we see white. Therefore, the color we see depends on which rays are reflected and which are absorbed. I did this sketch in Prague, Chez Republic. I was very interested in the light, middle and dark value shapes. I will do a better job of creating value dominance if I do the painting again on larger paper.

I saw this young woman at a "Free For All". I took a lot of pictures that day and painted a few of them later, in my studio.
Intensity, hue and value are all attributes of color and, as a result, they often overlap in the way they are used. Color Intensity, sometimes called Chroma or saturation refers to the brightness, lightness or dullness of a color. A Pure Hue is the highest intensity where no black or white has been added. Here is my great nephew, Nathan Paul. I loved the way he was sitting there at the table, listening to the conversation.
A few years ago I was invited to the 90th birthday party of an artist friend. The party was a buffet dinner and I needed to take a dish.
