This old farmhouse was a delight and a challenge to paint. It was all created in india ink and being a monotone, the values had to be right.
Some artists struggle with working on a regular basis. Instead of thinking about all the marvelous art they are going to create, they picture themselves in their work areas struggling with failing paintings, sculptures, or whatever their art form. Here is a quick sketch I did of some clam diggers in Ireland. I'm sure they were all thinking about the delicious dinner they would have later that day.

Clock Tower, Germany. describes tourists enjoying a courtyard in the warm glow of ancient buildings. They dream of the people who built these structures and of the people, long gone, who lived in them. They imagine the courtyard filled with nobiliby and peasants, hear the sounds of laughter and wagon wheels on the hard packed earth. 14x20, 140 lb Arches watercolor paper.

I did this painting from a photograph I took in Lugano, Switzerland. I love the old streets and archways in Europe, and also like painting them
Honey has ‘finally’ agreed to let me move our living quarters upstairs and make the downstairs our work area. Currently, we have living and work areas both upstairs and downstairs. When all is done, there will be two zones in our home, one for work and one for living. Downstairs, the distractions of everyday life won’t be as obvious or ‘in my face’.
