I drew this picture of my great nephew, Nathan. I have painted Nathan before and really liked his pose in this drawing. Most artists who paint figures have their favorite models and use them over and over. Nathan is one of my favorites. He seems able to strike up the most interesting poses.
Poor Honey was sick this past week. Monday he came down with a stomach virus that “knocked him for a loop.” He just about moaned and groaned the whole week. Poor Honey.
I wonder if the art we create is sick, or if it knocks our viewers for a loop? [...]

These are Pied Crows. They are actually all the same bird, painted from three different photos. I took the photos at Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls, Canada. The painting is a watercolor done on 18X24 watercolor paper. I loved the way this bird was looking around, stretching its neck. The movements were so human and showed so much personality.
I forgot to take a picture of my original drawing, but remembered for this first wash. I was experimenting with adding color after color while they were all still wet, then spritzed with rubbing alcohol. I had a good time, but my drawing [...]

Last week, as soon as I left for my critique group, Honey brought the leaf blower into the house and started blowing dust out of the baseboard heaters, off the ceiling fans, and any other dusty place he could attack! As he told it (I wasn’t here), the dust was everywhere. His thinking was that the housekeepers would clean it when they got here. The problem is, they don’t take the curtains down and run them through the dryer then put them back up or, shake out the comforter, or clean the many other little hidden spots where the dust landed.

Here is a photo I took of the Horseshoe Falls on our trip to Niagara Falls
